“A Forest Garden Year” is a 49 minute documentary by Martin Crawford who runs his forest garden down in Devon in the UK. Readers familiar with Gardening programs on the TV will be comfortable with this format. Indeed the publisher – Green Books – often puts out highly worthy but wordy books on the topic. We have moaned in the past about how uninformative the books are as they lack colour, good pictures and explanatory diagrams. So the topic really needed putting on the small screen. Continue reading

ISBN-13: 978-1-85623-008-7. Patrick Whitefield’s “How To Make A FOREST GARDEN” 3rd edition was published in 2002 by Permanent Publications. (This reprint 2009. The 1st edition dates back to 1996.) 158 pages long including foreword, introduction, ten chapters, weights & measures, further reading, list of suppliers, plant index and subject index. Last year we gave Patrick Whitefield’s “Permaculture in a Nutshell” a high score as it was concise and useful. ‘Forest Garden’ sees Patrick in more expansive mode. Forest Row In Transition – A Work Community In Progress

ISBN 978 095217 572 8. Published by Brambletye Publishing in 2009. 38 pages in big floppy A4 size. A nice quick and easy light-weight read. This is what happens when a Local Council has money burning a hole in its back pocket and decides to give it away to a community group working on local resilience in the face of Peak Oil and Climate Change.
