 Transition Town High Wycombe is an unincorporated non-profit association. Any member of the public can join in with TTHW forums (ie, Google Groups), subscribe to our Newsletters, download our Factsheets & other publications and attend our events for free. However this all very costly in terms of time and money. Time is given freely by our Volunteers and we always need more of them. If you are unable to help out in person then please help us by becoming a Supporter. Supporters help with an annual subscription and we have two different types:
What is a "Member"? "Members" are individuals who have the right to vote at our meetings and the right to call themselves "Member of Transition Town High Wycombe". Members can associate their work with TTHW and use our logo (as long as that work is in accordance with our constitutional aims). To become a Subscription Member you have to donate a minimum of £20 per year to the Association. What are "Affiliates"? "Affiliates" are no different from Members but they are groups such as civil society groups, charities, businesses and so-on. Each Affiliate has one vote. The £20 minimum per year still applies but any benefits from sponsors is taken into account. So if a local company wishes to sponsor us for the minimum equivalent of £20 a year this gives them the right to be an Affiliate. This remains so as long as that organisation does not act against the constitutional aims of TTHW. Affiliates have the right to call themselves "Affiliate of Transition Town High Wycombe" and to use the TTHW logo. What are "Associates"? "Associate" is a form of Member or Affiliate who donates less than £20 per year. An Associate cannot vote at our meetings but have the right to call themselves "Associate to Transition Town High Wycombe". In all other respects the Associate is the same as Member or Affiliate with the exception of the voting right. The term "Associate" covers groups and individuals. Payment There are three easy ways to pay. We do not advise anyone to send cash in the post although cash may be donated to the Treasurer or TTHW Committee Officer in person at one of our events or meetings. By Cheque by Post - please write cheque for whatever you can afford made payable to "Transition Town High Wycombe". What happens if I don't subscribe? We hope that you will send whatever you can to support this important work. However we understand that many cannot afford to. Others may simply live too far for this to be relevant to them. Nobody will ever be excluded from attending or helping out at our events if they are not members, associates or affiliates. You may continue to use our services and be on our Google Groups without any payment. What do I get for my money? You get a functioning Transition Town High Wycombe. You get the right to vote if Member or Affiliate. You can associate your work with us and use the logo. You are not eligible to do any of these without subscription. In future we are looking to expand our range of "Member Benefits". If anyone has any bright ideas of low-cost incentives for members please let us know!
